1. Update your LinkedIn profile
Create a killer profile. Keep it updated. Fill in every detail.
Upload a profile photo. Let it be professional. Members with profile photos receive up to 21x more profile views.
Your headline should contain what you do and what you are looking for. For example, if you are a professional digital marketer “ A passionate digital marketer helping companies grow online” could be your headline.
For example, If you are looking for digital marketing jobs take the advantage of headline by writing “ Looking for opportunities in the field of digital marketing”.
Write a good summary describing yourself. This is what people see when they come to your profile. You can write about yourself, how you started your career, your professional journey, your goals, etc.
If you are a student you can write about your achievements in academics and your career goals. Writing a good summary can create a good first impression for anyone visiting your profile.
Along with the summary, Update all your past work experiences, your education details, certificates, awards accomplished, and skills you are good at.
Filling all these details gives a good overview of yourself for anyone visiting your profile.
2. Connect to people similar to your profile
Send a connection request to people with a similar domain to yours. If you are a software developer, connect with software developers. This can be done by searching software developer in the search box and clicking on the filter “people”. Below is the sample screenshot.
You will find all the software developers by doing this search. You can send a connection request to them. You can also search by location and companies by applying filters accordingly.
As all your connections will be in a similar profession they might help you to get a job for you. Building these connections also helps you to share and gain knowledge. You can be benefited mutually.
3. Post on your timeline
Let the word out. Post on your timeline that you are looking for a job.
Write a post on your timeline that you are looking for a job in a particular field with your experience and skillsets along with your resume. This helps.
As the connections are in the same domain people will get in touch with you if they have openings in their organizations or they might refer to another account who is hiring for your particular role.

You might have a few companies in mind where you wish to work for. Follow them on Linkedin. This will help you stay to keep updated about company news and new positions as they become available.
Apart from LinkedIn, you might be actively searching for jobs on other portals as well. There is no problem applying there.
To get the upper hand, I tell you to make a list of the companies you wish to apply for from those job portals and connect the companies’ HR/ Employees on LinkedIn. Direct message them for a referral.

Hope you are doing well.
I came to know there is an opening for an xxx role in your organization which was posted on yyy. I have submitted my resume there. I went through the job description and think I have the relevant skills and experience your organization is looking for. It would be great if I can get a referral from your side. I am attaching my resume for reference.
